Wandertage im Grünen

Because of the song made famous by Johnny Cash, visitors to Ireland also often expect to see the famous Forty Shades of Green. But if they’re flying into Dublin, over what James Joyce called ‘snot green’ Irish Sea (make that 41 shades), they may be disappointed. A combination of intensive farming and dubious planning decisions has reduced the number of recognisable shades of green around Ireland’s capital to about 15. […] It’s only when you get out into the countryside that Ireland’s reputation as the Emerald Isle is vindicated.
»Xenophobe’s guide to the Irish«, London 2005, S. 12

Los ging es im Dauerregen im Marlay Park im Süden Dublins. Dann wurde es in und um Glendalough trockener, zuletzt schließlich auf Howth regelrecht heiter.
